Għarb vs Kerċem
Two of Gozo’s quietest markets in the rural west: traditional Għarb near Ta’ Pinu, and Kerċem on the edge of Victoria.
The short answer
Għarb or Kerċem?
Both are small markets, and neither is a rental play. Kerċem completes more sales than Għarb, is slightly ahead on promise of sale agreements and approves far more new homes. Għarb holds a slightly larger share of Malta’s rent contracts, but both shares are among the smaller ones in the country.
Għarb’s draw is that very little has changed. It is among Gozo’s most traditional villages, with farmland and cliffs around it, and almost no new building coming through. Kerċem is more practical, right beside Victoria, with more modern stock arriving. The buyer’s choice is character and remoteness against convenience.

Who each suits
Choosing between Għarb and Kerċem
Għarb
Għarb suits a buyer looking for a farmhouse or village house of real character to restore and keep, in a village that has largely escaped modern building. It is remote by Gozitan standards and its market is small, so it rewards a buyer who knows exactly what they want.
